Transit

Ford's full-size cargo van and the dominant Sprinter-class conversion base in the United States and Canada. The global-platform Transit replaced the long-running Econoline in North America from mid-2014 as a 2015 model; the current generation was substantially refreshed for the 2020 model year. Built at Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant, it is offered as Cargo Van, Passenger Van, Chassis Cab and Cutaway.

Standard rear-wheel drive, with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive available across most Cargo Van configurations — a drivetrain choice the Sprinter also offers but the ProMaster does not. Two wheelbases (130 in. and 148 in., the longer also offered in an Extended-Length body) combine with three roof heights — Low (82.4 in.), Medium (99.2 in.) and High (108.6 in.) — for well over a hundred Cargo Van permutations.

Payload is heavily configuration-dependent. Ford's published per-configuration figures range from roughly 2,600 lb on lighter, higher-trim AWD builds up to 5,103 lb for the top T-350HD High Roof, Extended-Length, rear-wheel-drive dual-rear-wheel build. The cargo bed's width between the wheelhousings — the figure that decides whether a mattress fits crossways — is 54.8 in. on single-rear-wheel models, narrowing to 45.4 in. on the Extended-Length dual-rear-wheel configuration.
