The spec-for-spec comparison

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ford Transit | 2014 (MY2015), refreshed MY2020 | RWD standard; AWD available | 130 / 148 (also 148 Extended) | ~2,600–5,103 depending on config | 54.8 (SRW); 45.4 (DRW Extended) | verified ↗ |
| Ram ProMaster Widest, lowest flat floor | 2014, Fiat Ducato platform | FWD only (class-exclusive) | 118 / 136 / 159 | ~3,800–4,820 depending on config | 56.0 | verified ↗ |
| Mercedes-Benz Sprinter | 2001, current gen NA-built (Charleston, SC) | RWD standard; AWD available (high-output engine only) | 144 / 170 | ~3,219–5,662 depending on config | 53.1 (SRW); 38.5 (DRW) | verified ↗ |
The Transit's two-wheelbase, three-roof-height range gives converters the widest choice of body styles and, alongside the Sprinter, the only volume RWD/AWD option among the three. The ProMaster's front-wheel-drive layout produces the lowest step-in height and the widest floor between the wheel wells, at the cost of factory 4x4 availability. The Sprinter remains the premium-tier pick, spanning the widest published payload range but with the narrowest floor between the wheel arches on its dual-rear-wheel configurations.
